Blue Tank Chaser

The most revered and beloved (and challenging) MTB race is returning to Ras Al Khaimah for the first time since 2015. It’s slated to be the best one yet. The race forms part of the United Arab Emirates National MTB Challenge Series. In its second year, there is an impressive series of eight nationwide races.

Ras Al Khaimah is one of the region’s most sought-after adventure destinations and record-breaking emirates. The Blue Tank Chaser is no different and attracts people from the Middle East and internationally. The formidable mountains give riders access to rare wadis, ancient ruins and trails, curious goats, their timeworn single-track paths, and formidable jagged peaks. Showka dam is the UAE’s oldest MTB event location with its adrenaline-pumping descents, lung-bursting climbs, and bone-shaking rocky steps.

Blue Tank Chaser is a challenging double-track course commencing just above the entrance to the Showka Wadi with a steep 12-kilometre climb to the telegraph mast. A short rotation around the U-turn returns riders to the same point at hairraising, breakneck speeds. The course is rocky and slippery with shale, so you’ll need strength, determination, and moderate fitness to consider competing in this entry-level course.

Terms and Conditions

• The race, overseen by the UAE Cycle Federation, is counted towards the overall series winner of the under-40s, 40-plus men and women and 14 to 18 years for the junior boys and girls heats. UAECF awards gold, silver and bronze medals for the top three and podium appearances for the top five of each category.
• There are separate categories for XC, Gravel and Electric-MTB.
• Points awarded according to the bike ridden.
• Emirates Road Cycling Club effectuate electronic timing.
• You must obtain a license to race from the UAE Cycle Federation to enter events during the 2022-23 season. You can purchase licenses from: https://uaecf.ae/home.
• Upon receipt of your license, you can register for the Blue Tank Chaser here.
• You will not be permitted to race unless you have a valid license.
